Franz Schreker was considered one of the most important opera composers of his time - he was even referred to as the only legitimate successor to Richard Wagner. Therefore, MESA cordially invites you to join us for the opera at the National Theatre to see „The Stigmatized“. The opera will be in German with German and English surtitles. The play lasts 3 ½ hours, there is a break of 30 minutes.
„The Stigmatized“ is about the physically disfigured Alviano Salvago who appears condemned to a life without love and erotic fulfillment. He devotes all his energy to creating a perfect – if artificial – world, in accordance with his vision – the island of Elysium. Yet, this beautiful utopia has a dark side. Inspired by Alviano's maxim, „Let beauty be the bounty of the strong“, the city of Genua’s male elite regularly abduct young women, take them to the island and rape them. Alviano seeks to bring an end to this and make his creation available to the whole world.
Tuesday, 15th of May, 18.30 pm.
The amount of participants is limited to 18 spots. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE! There is no registration necessary – just come to our Office Hours and save your spot there (Schellingstraße 7 (ground floor, room 012) from 7th of May 2018 until 11th of May 2018 (6:30 pm to 8:00 pm)).
With lots of love,
your MESA team!
