in order to give you already a little foretaste of the Bavarian Monarchy and its fairtytale-like palace complexes, we’d like to visit the Schloss Nymphenburg with you on Sunday, the 15th of April. The castle was built as a summer residenc efor the bavarian dukes in 1679. At its time, it was still far away from the city. During the following two centuries, it was extended several times and nowadays, not only the castle itself, but also the sourrounding gardens and the adjoining Botanic Garden are really worth visiting! We’ll meet at 13.00 pm at the tramway stop „Schloss Nymphenburg“ (Tram line 16/17). The reduced entrance fee is 5,- €, so don’t forget to bring your student ID. A registration in advance is not necessary – just show up! If the weather is good, we can enjoy the remaining afternoon in a nice Biergarten or café nearby.
We're looking forward to a nice Sunday afternoon with you, your MESA-team
did you just arrive in Munich and want to practice your German skills? Or did you just come back from your own year abroad and miss communicating in different languages? Do you want to meet people from all over the world and overcome the “language barrier” by practicing other languages than your native tongue? Then you should definitely come to our “Sprachcafé” this week.

How it works? There will be tables with different language pairs (G-En, G-Es, G-Fr, G-It, G-Portuguese, G-Arabic. After you got a nameplate with your language skills, you can sit down at any table you want, start talking to natives and learners while enjoying a few drinks. You can join at anytime without prior registration.
Of course, all other languages are welcome as well. Please let us know if you miss a language in the list above until Tuesday (10.04.2019) and if you’d like to have other language pairs, so we can reserve more tables. Also feel free to invite your German friends or your LMU-Buddies to ensure that many languages can be spoken.
We are looking forward to seeing you! Lots of MESA-love

After all the getting to know the Bavarian drinking culture among students in Munich, we are afraid that you might get the wrong impression. Don’t get us wrong – we love it, but besides from all the amazing party spots, Munich as more to offer than just beer and “Lederhosen”. As we would like to show you our beautiful city, that is so rich in culture and history, also by daylight, we set up a wide range of daily cultural activities. First, we’d like to star with a visit to the “Residenz” on Wednesday, 11th of April. From 1508 to 1918, the building of the Residenz, which is located directly in the city center, used to be the home and seat of government of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings. Since the monarchy in Germany is abolished, the Residenz was turned into a museum about it’s former residents and very much worth a visit. You can get the feeling of how it might have been like being a part of the Bavarian aristocracy.
We are meeting in front of the Feldherrnhalle (it’s the big building with the statue in the middle and two lions on Odeonsplatz U3/4/5/6) at 3 pm and then are visiting the Residenz together. If you click on the following link you can see the exact meeting point: https://goo.gl/maps/PnBGxFytXhT2. A registration in advance is not necessary, just show up! The regular entrance fee is 7,- €, but with your students ID you get a discount by 1,-€, so don’t forget to bring it. If you want, we’d like to grab a drink with you in a coffee house nearby after the cultural program (it shouldn’t last longer that two hours) and end the day in a more relaxed atmosphere
We are looking forward to seeing you and visiting the Residenz together with you.
